Tulla welcomed Cratloe to Dr. Daly Park last Tuesday evening for the opening round of the U16 championship.
Played in perfect hurling conditions, Tulla had a spirited team performance against a physically strong Cratloe side. The home team held the lead throughout the game but Cratloe stayed in the game with some good scores.
The first half saw some great scores from Sean Withycombe and Andrew Conheady in particular, giving Tulla a 2-12 to 1-07 lead at half time.
Cratloe had a good start to the second half and brought the match back to 6 points but losing a player to a red card meant even more pressure on their hard working defense resulting in too big a mountain to climb.
Strong performances from Sean Healy, Stephen Moloney and Brian McSweeney ensured Tulla went on to win the match 3-21 to 3-07.Other scores for Tulla came from Daniel Withycombe, Jimmy O’Gorman, Brian McSweeney & Michael Ryan.
Tulla hope to continue their winning ways when they take on the Banner tomorrow (Sunday) at 12pm in The Banner.
